On parking in Berlin
If you want to park in central Berlin, you’re better off with a Smart than a VW bus… especially if you want to go to a concert 🙂

Why is it, that some days the phone doesn’t stop ringing?? I think it rang every 5 minutes on average all day. Also, why don’t doctors make it a priority to employ friendly receptionists?
DB bought my Christmas prezzie today. I am usually against early presents, but this year I think it’s a good thing. I can now use it to make other peoples’ prezzies. Win-win.
It’s still a week before advent starts. That means it’s still at least a month until Christmas. The shops have been selling Christmas food since September. We’ve been avoiding everything Christmassy, in an effort to single (double) handedly change the way supermarkets plan their year. It’s’s a tactic I’ve been trying for a few years […]
“You can’t take criticism, can you?!” How are you supposed to answer that?! I guess I can’t. I can’t answer the question and I don’t handle criticism well. Not the mean kind and often not the wellmeaning. I think it’s like the saying: “It’s not what they say, or even what they do. It’s how […]
This is the cake from the inside: This is the tray of potatoes, carrots, onions and, most importantly, parsnips ready for roasting: They were SO very good, the steak was a little bit unnecessary – but who turns down a steak when they’re offered one??! It was a very good steak too. Here are the […]
Whatever else you can say about German birthday traditions, you can’t knock their present wrapping abilities. Just look at this! Or this! It doesn’t much matter what you pack into the parcel if it looks like that! 😉
I know it isn’t done, but if I hadn’t done it, it wouldn’t’ve got done…. (Should have been published last night, but somehow got stuck)
His owner’s on holiday. He is very unhappy, and unhappiness is best twinned with hiding in small places. This was small place of choice today.
I hope the paramedics got there in time. He was crouching on the ground holding his hands over his heart and his eyes were wet with tears. I was on the way to the platform, on the way to work. I pointed him towards the doctor’s door (10m further) and then remembered she doesn’t get […]
No. Not one for notthrowingstones. Not yet anyway. This is a new website for the company I work for. Yes. I know it’s the weekend. That’s not really important. What is important is that I have managed to download the WordPress editor onto the hosting company /programme and start making pages and playing with layouts. […]
If someone had told me 18months ago, that I would regularly go to bed at or before 10pm I wouldn’t have believed them…. These days I wonder how I survived on so little sleep!
My DB told me I’m too fat the other day. I’m not sure what I’m too fat for, exactly, but it sucked. I am losing weight, slowly, and am at least 3kg down on May, which I have to admit is a long time ago. But at least there’s not much risk of the dreaded […]
I don’t remember coming across chewing gum as a little kid. By about year 4 I’d discovered bubble gum, but wasn’t ever very good at blowing bubbles (glass is much better than bubblegum in that respect, even if it doesn’t taste as good ;)). A bit later, maybe in year 8 or 9, someone told […]
What’s the best way to vacuum a staircase?? I’ve lived away from my parents for over 9 years and I still haven’t figured it out. For a start why are the cables always that much too short – you can’t vacuum the whole staircase without changing plugsockets. Where are you supposed to balance the vacuum […]
